I like organising trips. And my friends and I like skiing (they are all better at it than me). So I organised a trip back out to Winter Park, this time for a group of 8 of us. I may have left it a bit late in the year to organise an overseas ski trip, however Caro and the team at The National Sports Centre for the Disabled in Winter Park, Colorado were AMAZING. We had five adaptive skiers and Caro was able to secure instructors and volunteers for us for a trip out in early March this year.

Rambling in Riga
November meant it was time for me and Dan to go on our annual overseas (Christmas) trip. I have always wanted to go to the Baltics after seeing a lot of photos from friends who had been, so cheap flight prices saw us heading to Riga. The cheap flight did mean we had to be up at sparrow’s fart to make the departure so we decided to stay at the Hampton by Hilton which is right next door to Stansted Airport. I booked an accessible room which was huge. It had a big double bed (it was quite high) and a pull out sofa – the mattress was shit not the best. I shotgunned the bed as I was about to spend a week on a couch and Dan had to make do with the couch.
Israel – Jerusalem
After Athens I found it was cheaper to fly back to Glasgow from Israel (with help from my British Airways Executive Club points). Luckily, I found a rather cheap flight from Athens to Tel Aviv. Why Israel? a) I found decently priced flights b) the history and c) the scenery! I had also heard that Israel is one of the safest countries to travel to alone as a solo female.
Best of the West Bank
I booked a whole day tour with Abraham Tours to explore the Best of the West Bank for £77 which included a trip to the site of Jesus’ Baptism on the bank of the Jordan River, Jericho, Ramallah and Bethlehem, where we visited the Church of the Nativity and the separation Wall.
Athens in 3 Days
After an amazing week back on Lemnos at Surf Club Keros I decided to stay a few extra days in Athens. Pete and Andy had a 21 hour layover, with pretty much the whole of the Thursday to spend in Athens. We had all booked separate accommodation so agreed to meet in the morning for a trip up to the Acropolis.
Day Trip to Orkney
So our wonderful hosts at John O Groats Guesthouse had booked us in for a day trip to Orkney. The trip cost around £65 and included the return ferry trip and the bus tour around the islands.
The NC 500 – Scotland’s Northern Route – Things to See
At the start of June (2019) my mate Pete asked if I wanted to go on a road trip. We originally looked at Ireland, but eventually decided on Scotland as it was a bit cheaper and I already live here! This post is a follow on from the accommodation post.

Weekend in Amsterdam
Earlier this month I took a trip over to Amsterdam to visit my friend Lizzy. Lizzy and I go back to 2009 when we met in the Royal Australian Airforce Gap Year program, she’s from Melbourne and now we both live on the other side of the world!
Budaful Budapest
Well I’m shit at blogging, last one was from July! My bad! Finally back at it with this blog about my trip to Budapest in November.
Remember my mate Dan from the Colorado Ski Trip and from last year’s trip to Warsaw? If you don’t remember (and can’t be bothered looking at the previous posts) Dan is a full time wheelchair user with a spinal injury (paraplegic). He’s also my travel buddy.
And this time we’ve gone to Budapest.
Weekend in Leicester
One of my best friends has just got a transfer through work from her Melbourne office to their office in Amsterdam! This means that after 4 years we finally got to catch up!
